Efficiency in circles

Learning by trial and error is, although insightful, not very inefficient. A bit counterintuitive, but if you want to be efficient, sit back, relax and study the patterns. Once you have gone full circle and understand the process, you can go directly to your goal. This is what the Red Queen meant when she told Alice that she needs to stand still in order to reach the end of the chess board:
